The Football club choose Cancer Research UK as a charity partner after losing one of its coaches to the illness. The club are proud to host the Ray Barlow Festival of Football in memory of Ray who sadly passed away in January 2006 after a short battle with cancer. However the aggressive nature of the cancer shocked us all & Ray is greatly missed. Ray loved the club & was involved heavily with the younger boys starting out in football. The day has been arranged to remember Ray, his love of football & to showcase the skills of the young footballers that Ray would have been so keen to see develop. All the players wear a pink ribbon on their arm (given out at registration). Supporters are asked to wear a pink ribbon on the day & we ask for a voluntary contribution of £1 per ribbon. You may donate more if you wish. There are buckets on the day for you to through your loose change into. (All of this money goes direct to Cancer Research). The club works closely with Cancer Research UK & has raised money from collections at organised events such as B&Q in Yate & raffles/auctions. TO DATE THIS SEASON THE CLUB HAS RAISED £1734.86 FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK. WELL DONE & THANK YOU.
